Music... what will we be able to do without it.

Put on a pair of headphones and play some music and you can block out the world. 

I'm going to start doing this new thing where every time at the end of the month I give you my playlist of the songs I have had on repeat for that month.

I'm also going to share with you guys some of the new music artists I discover for that month.

My music, similar to my style, is pretty diverse. One day I'll be listening to old school R&B and the next day I'll be listening to Rock music. So, I'm sure there will be something that everyone can relate to!

Now for this month's new music artists, I recently came upon this guy named Masego on my Spotify Discovery Playlist and instantly loved his style. His beats are trap house with an influence of jazz. With his sax and scatting (lovingly called trap house jazz and trap scat) that can be heard in his Pink Polo EP.  He also has relatable lyrics, his songs often having some type of message whether it be, being in the moment and having fun, or breaking through that tired old sound and message hip hop culture has been doing for years.  Check out his Soundcloud.

Another music artist that I recently came upon is Khalid. I'm not sure whether I found him through Spotify or Soundcloud. Either way, his voice combined with the chill laid back beats is an ice cream sundae on a hot day to my ears. If you just want to vibe his music is for you. Check out his Soundcloud.

This is the bell the Vietnam War protestors gathered around on May 4, 1970 now known as the Kent State Massacre. 

For some reason Kent State idolizes the black squirrels that inhabit the campus, its almost like a second mascot.

This is our rock that different organizations spray paint with whatever they want (school appropriate of course.)

My home for the next four years, Kent State Fashion School!! A.K.A Rockwell Hall. 

This outfit is crazy trendy, it's weird because I'm usually not the trendy type. 

But, I have on an off the shoulder shirt (trend), with the tie up detail (trend), with a button down A-line skirt (trend), in the color olive (trendy color), with my fake Birkenstocks (trend). This outfit might as well have come straight off of Forever 21 clothing racks.

So, tell me why the day after I bought this bag from JC Pennys or Macys, one of those big stores, the strap broke. Mind you the bag retail price was about $70 -$80 but, it was on sale for like $35. Thought it was cute, convinced mom to buy it, and broke. Mom was mad, I was mad, I thought super glue would be an easy fix, I was wrong. Moral of the story, buy good quality bags.

I bought this Jumpsuit from H&M and it was the only one hanging on the rack. I saw the price tag and my jaw dropped. $50, the price tag said, I was debating whether it was worth the money. I tried it on to see how it fit, and to see if it fit the length of my legs (since I'm tall and all pants are high waters). My grandma was with me and she was like "It's really pretty, it looks good on you, you should get it." But, the price had me so conflicted, obviously I ended up buying it, but I probably put it back on the rack and then picked it back up again twice before I finally bought it. At least now I can say I have no regrets, and I received plenty of compliments.

The pants are actually not meant to be tapered like they are in the picture above. They are actually loose flowing. But, I washed them and then the pant legs shrunk a little bit and then the floods came in. So, I kind of 'fake tapered' them myself, a trick I learned from my friend Seth. I liked the results and it kept my legs a little bit cooler on that hot day. 

You can't say this hat isn't bomb. After all, aren't we all apart of the Anti Social Social Club.

So, instead of buying a whole new college wardrobe I decided to get a couple of pieces I loved and I knew would get a lot of wear. This shirt and the shoes are some of the newer items I bought.

As for the shoes, my friend Capri has some shoes similar if not the same ones I have. I knew I wanted them every time she wore them and now I finally have some. It's a pretty easy shoe to wear since, they are black, they match almost everything in my closet. Even though it has a little bit of a heel I figured I'm tall anyways why not be a little bit taller.

I love glowy, earthy eye looks I think it compliments darker skin tones well.

For all the swatches the bottom color is the far right and the top is the far left of the platte.

The colors are pigmented enough that I won't really need an eyeshadow primer.

But, I love how they look on my skin tone and I'm so excited to start experimenting!

A Shirt

Sewing Machine or needle and thread

Ruler

Step 1: Pick the shirt you want to DIY and put it on

Step 2: Mark about where you want your shirt to stop

Step 3: From that mark add 2 inches. You want to cut a little bit below the 2 inch mark for your seam allowance.  

 Step 4: Next you want to take your measuring tape and measure around your waist from where you wanted your shirt to stop. Once you get that measurement subtract about 4 inches and cut the elastic from that measurement. 

You do this in order for the elastic to appear gathered, and so that it can actually stretch around your waist.

Step 5: Flip the shirt inside out and place elastic about 1/4 of an inch away from the edge of the shirt.

Step 6:  Fold the edge of the shirt over the elastic and pin around the hem of the shirt. Do not pin the elastic to the shirt and do not leave the elastic in the shirt while pinning it. The elastic is there just as a guideline to see exactly how much fabric you will need to cover it.

Step 7: Once pinned all the way around the shirt you can either take it to your sewing machine and straight stitch where you pinned or hand sew where you pinned. 

Step 8: Leave a gap in order to feed the elastic through the shirt.

Step 9:  Once you feed the elastic through the shirt pin the two elastic together and then sew. 

 Step 10: Pin the hole you left open to feed the elastic through and then sew closed. 

And then, you're done!
